The images were taken using various cameras and lens. Most of the images are head shots and a few macros (fine detail of small objects). The view of downtown Houston was taken with a Canon 1Ds and a 17mm Tokina lens. Two of the head shots were taken with the OM E5 with a Canon 50 f/1.4 lens. The others were with a Canon 1D and a 24-70 L lens. I added some Black and White images.

Had been busy with two recent events preparing the video. Video editing is much more time consuming.

This week I played with Photoshop creating images for the Camera Club competition. Creative is subjective so I have cater to the judges and their opinion what is creative. Competitions are no different than many sports. Judges look for certain qualities and one works to give them what they look for.

I am still learning all the intricacies of my OM5 as I experiment with different lens and settings.

The first image of the dragonfly was taken with an Olympus OM 5 and a Canon FL 50mm macro lens.

The rest of the images are all with a Canon 5D and different lens, primarily a Canon 24-70L lens. The Canon 24- 70 is a work horse have been using it for nearly 10 years and it has never disappointed. Low light it nails the focus immediately which is crucial in fast moving events such as weddings and Quinceñeras. One may only have one change to nail that special moment and you need something that you can trust.

The third image is a Panasonic G3 with a 50mm macro FL lens. The fourth and fifth images a Canon 1DS with a Tamron 14mm f/2.8 lens was used. The next image a Canon 1D with a Sigma 100-300mm f/4.0 lens was used. The final image is a collage of two different images taken at different times with different equipment.

Fill Flash used two 550 EX flashes on one mount, trigger by Yongnuo. Excellent trigger and surprisingly good considering that they are about 1/10th the price of pocket wizards. They will fire all my EX flashes and all my EZ flashed. The distance is at least 40 yards through walls based on personal experience.

July 28th 2012 Weekend

Every year our family gets together in memory of our parents, Otalia G. Barrera, and Manuel Barrera, who both passed away in 2004. Our sister Enedelia Luna is always gracious enough to have the Catholic Church in Molina ( Corpus Christi, Texas) do a Mass for our parents. This is followed by dinner at her house. Her Son, Daniel Luna, prepared a fabalous dinner for all of us. We had two siblings that were unable to attend this year.

Attending this year, Manuel Barrera, Endelia Luna, Jose Barrera, Mario Barrera, Jorge Barrera, and Lydia Salgado. Unable to attend were Joel Barrera and Anna Maria Rodriguez.
